Some homes smooth the process of decision making! For the owners this was one of them. When they were looking to move to the seafront in Margate they had a few particular desires. They wanted somewhere with secure parking, a modern home but they really wanted to be somewhere that had some character and a sea view.
To their delight they found this apartment. For those who don't know The Royal Sea Bathing, you are in for a pleasant journey of discovery.
The gate entrance provides sense of anticipation and as you drive into the development there is a wonderful feeling of grandeur and a connection with history. Dr John Coakley Lettsom was founder of The Medical Society of London and also founded The Royal Sea Bathing hospital in Margate in 1791. It was designed to provide therapy by experiencing Margate's clean air and from immersion in salt water. Sir Erasmus Wilson PRCS made a significant donation to the hospital and is commemorated with a statue in the grounds. Amongst the famous patients who spent time here it is reported that Karl Marx attended for a month. The hospital closed in the 1990's and is now a unique development of seaside apartments.
Charlotte Court is a modern wing and consequently has many benefits including a secure underground car park, the owners have had a charging point added to their bay for a mobility scooter. Lifts provide access to all floors and the choice of being on the third floor means that the view from the balcony is excellent.
The living space is open plan and provides a sitting area with 'Juliet Balcony' looking over one of the courtyards. The room has space for a dining table but the owners prefer to dine in what could be a second bedroom as it has access to the balcony and enjoys that sea view. The master bedroom has an ensuite shower room and there is a separate bathroom. The kitchen is a well appointed area with plenty of work surface and storage yet doesn't intrude onto the living area.
As for life here, well you have parking for your car and it's very easy to leave it there and not use it. Cycle rides around the area are popular, walks along the beach front can go on for almost ever it sometimes seems and Margate Town centre is a simple walk away with lots to occupy you from shops and arcades to restaurants and pubs. The Turner Contemporary art gallery is a must see feature in Margate too.
For those who like to venture further afield there is a short walk to the railway station with High Speed service to St Pancras.
As a full time home or a bolt hole on a super coastline this is a fabulous choice.
