The Story

Set in a popular village location near a country park, with vast open
countryside on its doorstep, the peaceful setting and outdoor
lifestyle are what Eileen has enjoyed the most.
“We have a quiet lane which leads down to a bridleway direct into
the local woodland. What appeals to us about being here is that
within 100 yards we are on a track walking into the woods. It’s a
great location.”
There are also networks of paths and permit routes for cyclists,
with group park runs organised weekly.
“If you’re an outdoor person then this is a great place. Milton
Keynes is just down the road and it’s got over 30 miles of cycle
tracks. If you’re a cyclist there’s so much here.”
HORSE HEAVEN
As well as the many opportunities for cycling and walking in the
area, the open space provides the perfect spot for animal lovers.
Eileen shares a field nearby with a neighbour for her horse to graze,
which would be available for the new owners should they desire it.
“There’s plenty around here for people who have horses. There’s a
yard to put horses in for grazing, there are places to ride, with
competitions and lots of events locally. I like taking my dog to
Woburn Golf Course for a walk through the woods and out the
other side to an Italian café, to have coffee on the high street, then
walk back.”
ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
While the house does have its own unique charm there’s plenty of
potential for the new owners to leave their mark. The décor
throughout has a neutral, natural quality, achieved using solid oak
flooring and a light colour palette, giving the house a fresh, unified
feel.
“We’ve kept the walls quite a simple colour because we like a light
and airy look. Only one room is wallpapered, the rest are painted.
We’ve also kept the same coloured carpet all the way through the
house, to make it flow throughout.”
A BREAKFAST ROOM WITH A VIEW
When it comes to communal living the house has plenty of options,
with an open-plan drawing and dining room, spacious kitchen and
breakfast areas, and a secluded garden terrace that is a real sun
trap.
“I enjoy the breakfast room the most, where the skylight windows
are,” says Eileen. “We quite often sit out there because it just flows
from the kitchen to the breakfast room. We have bi-folding doors
that open straight out into the garden, and the sun is on that side at
meal times.”
WINING AND DINING
Entertaining has been an enjoyable past-time for the current
owners. Eileen and her husband often host dinner parties where
they can easily accommodate up to eight people for a sit-down
meal.
“We do have friends around quite a lot. When I retired earlier this
year we had quite a big dinner party with friends and I cooked. We
used to have bowling parties where we’d go off to the bowling alley,
then come back and open up the doors and have about 10 of us
out there enjoying food on the terrace.”

Setting The Scene

With stunning country views, nearby woodland and a substantial
mature plot, this property has access to plenty of outdoor space.
There is a secluded garden terrace and lawn, a large shed with a
raised concrete floor and plenty of off-street parking on a paved
driveway. There is also a double garage.
The house can be entered via stairs leading from the driveway to the
back door, or inside via the basement.
“We come up through the garage stairs and into the breakfast room.
Having somewhere where you can bring your dog in and dry him off,
and put away your dirty wellies and wet coat is really convenient.”
