The Story

GLASS ACT
Since moving in, the couple have upgraded the property. They have enhanced it with the addition of a large conservatory, which can be accessed from the snug, drawing and dining room. “We also built out over the triple garage to create a self-contained annexe. This has its own bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and sitting room, as well as a wonderful first-floor conservatory, where you can sit in the sunshine and enjoy the view out over the garden. It has its own entrance and is ideal for a family member seeking some independence.”

DESIGNER TOUCHES
Rooms throughout The Pines have been finished in designer wallpapers and high quality paints from the likes of Farrow & Ball. “Our aim was to modernise it while also ensuring we retained its character. We decided to keep features such as the solid mahogany doors and staircase, as well as the attractive skirting boards and coving.” The kitchen was also refitted and has been designed to offer generous and creative storage space, a central island and breakfast bar, as well as features such as a warming drawer. “I love my kitchen – it is just perfect and is one of the things I will miss most when I leave,” she admits.

SPECIAL OCCASIONS
The ground floor of the house comprises a family room, utility room, cloakroom and sitting room, as well as the kitchen breakfast room, snug, dining room, drawing room, dining room and conservatory. The dining room has a vaulted ceiling and is overlooked by a galleried landing. “This house is fantastic for entertaining because we have all this space for people to spread out into – and, of course, people can spill out into the garden too. We had our engagement party and our wedding reception here, as well as my Dad’s 80th birthday.”

BEAUTIFUL BATHROOM
In the main part of the house, the first floor features a generous master bedroom with dressing area and en suite bathroom, together with a guest bedroom and en suite bathroom, three additional bedrooms and a family bathroom. “When we refurbished the main bathroom, we had a double spa bath fitted with modifications including mood lighting and even a special shelf for an ice bucket so we could enjoy a glass of champagne whilst having a relaxing spa."

A PEACEFUL PLACE
Great time and attention has also been lavished on the garden. This has been carefully landscaped and immaculately maintained, offering outstanding entertainment and relaxation space. “We are 24-seven barbecue people – we even barbecue in the winter!” they admit. “We have a fantastic area for cooking and eating outside. There are two decking areas so you can make the most of the sun and an extensive patio laid in Brazilian blue
slate."
When not relaxing relaxing in the garden, they like to stroll around one of the nearby lakes, along the river bank or through the attractive grounds or walk over to Ye Olde Swan at Woughton on the Green. “This area is great for walking or cycling,” they point out. “It is very peaceful and ideal for families as the schools are very good and there are lots of parks. At the same time, we are so close to the centre of Milton Keynes.” The couple will miss everything about their special home, especially welcoming friends and family. “It really has been a joy living here,” they add. “It is quiet, private, spacious – and we love it!”

Setting The Scene

The grounds are a real feature of The Pines. They have been landscaped to the front and back, and are beautifully maintained. There is a large gated driveway for multiple vehicles, together with a triple garage. There are areas for outside dining and entertaining.
