Full description

The fishing rights are located at Druxton Bridge, St Giles on Heath, approximately four miles north west of Launceston and the A30, providing good access to Exeter and the M5 to the east.

The River Tamar
The River Tamar rises high on Woolley Moor where it flows southwards for sixty one miles before releasing to the sea at Plymouth. In 936 King Athelstan of England made the eastern bank of the river the boundary between Devon and Cornwall.

The Tamar Valley is designated as both a World Heritage Site and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The river’s name is said to mean ‘Great Water’ and the Tamar is one of several British rivers whose ancient name is assumed to be derived from a prehistoric word, meaning "dark flowing".

The Fishing Rights
These comprise an attractive and tranquil best of approximately 1,600 meters (1,750 yards) of single bank fishing rights on the River Tamar, available as a whole. The extent of the fishing rights are shown shaded pink on the plan.
The banks of the River Tamar host a variety of plants and wildflowers, which enhance the peace and splendour of the beat.

The fishing rights benefit from a `pedestrian right of access at Druxton Bridge and along the adjoining farmland to the east. Parking is available to the east of Druxton Bridge as shown at point ‘A’ on the plan. Parking arrangements are currently in a poor state of repair and in need of improvement.
Quarry Species

The beat is principally a brown trout fishery , but exciting sea trout sport may be expected from midsummer.

Catch Records
We understand from the Owner that the fishing rights have only been very lightly exercised and there are therefore no records.

Wildlife
The River Tamar is considered a haven for wildlife, hosting a diverse array of rare species.
