Full description

A grandiose, six bedroom Edwardian family home, thoughtfully laid out over three floors and just a half mile on foot from Wanstead High Street. Design & Decor is clean and fresh throughout, you have a sixty foot private rear garden, two sitting rooms, two bathrooms, kitchen, utility room and cellar.

Wanstead is one of East London's most highly sought-after villages and Buckingham Road is one of its most enviable streets; a quiet broad avenue just moments from the High Street's shops, bars and excellent transport links.

IF YOU LIVED HERE...

You'll be enjoying over 2000 square feet of lovingly designed living space. The 250 square foot main reception has a working fireplace and is flooded with natural light thanks to the enormous bay window. The kitchen/diner is just as stunning; over 300 square feet combined, with engineered oak floors underfoot and handbuilt units incorporating kashmire granite worktops, an extra-wide oven and a huge array of fitted appliances.

Upstairs you have an enormous, 220 square foot master bedroom, with another huge bay window and a suite of fitted storage all down one wall. Two double bedrooms, one single and the family bathroom complete the first floor. On the second floor there are two more bedrooms, a skylit sitting room and another generous bathroom.

Wanstead is blessed with an abundance of green spaces scattered throughout the area, and Buckingham Road is no exception. You have Nutter Field, Wanstead Flats and Onslow Gardens all just moments away. Wanstead High Street is also close at hand, with a wide range of top notch bars, restaurants and gastropubs, not to mention fast, direct 17 minute runs to Liverpool Street and 32 Minutes to Oxford Street from Wanstead or Snaresbrook Central Line stations.

WHAT ELSE?

- Your private garden is a beautifully landscaped mixture of raised patio and lush lawn, with a shady dell at the end and a vast array of screening greenery.
- You're well served for schools, with five primary/secondaries nearby, all rated 'Good' or better by Ofsted and including the 'Outstanding' Nightingale Primary, just moments away.
- For your new local we'd recommend The Manor House, an excellent gastropub on The High Street.

A WORD FROM THE OWNER...We have lived in Buckingham Road for the last 34 years – my youngest daughter was even born in this house! We loved the house and the garden from the moment we saw it. When we moved in we planted some conifer trees at the bottom of the garden, they were 1 inch high at the time. Now they form a tall wall, offering a total seclusion from the neigbours. The house needed modernisation but doing it up we were very careful to retain all the remaining original features. The major move was to integrate the kitchen with the dining room and by doing it we created a place which was a lively hub of our family life. By creating the loft space we provided our teenage daughters with independent living quarters where they could spend time with friends without disturbing us. We often had friends staying with us and the house never felt too crowded. I am a ceramic artist (the kiln is in the cellar) and I made the tiles which are in the utility room and little square insets in both bathrooms. Buckingham Road is a very quiet street, only 10 minutes walk from the High Street with excellent shops and restaurants and we always liked the position of our house, the lack of overlooking neighbours on the other side of the road and hence the ease of parking two cars if necessary. We need to move on and we would like another family to enjoy living here as much as we did and appreciate the special soul of this house.
