Full description

Bearing in mind we have been writing descriptions for wonderful Village homes for years now, you would think we would have run out of things to say about this fantastic part of E17. Oh, how wrong you would be though! This was, is, and will always be the most amazing place to live, and frankly we will never tire of (or run out of things to say about) Walthamstow Village. It just has so much crammed into it. There’s a myriad of restaurants (Village Kitchen, Orford Road Saloon, Eat 17), pubs and bars (The Castle, The Queens Arms, The Village, In Vitro Veritas) and cafes (Froth & Rind, The Village Bakery, Huck’s) that you will probably never want (or need) to leave. It even has its own gallery at WVWG. But if you do need to venture further afield, then it’s surely good to have Walthamstow Central station nearby, whether for the dreaded commute to work or for something more fun.

Living Here... - At just over 100 square metres, this house is large when compared to many in the Village. But it isn't the size that appeals here (although of course it’s a bonus). No, the real story here is of a beautiful mid terraced Victorian house that has been decorated with real care and not inconsiderable skill by the current owner, creating a home with warmth and charm. It starts when you walk into the through lounge, where the richness of the stripped wood flooring is accentuated by the light pouring through the bay windows. The kitchen diner to the rear of the house is the perfect spot for entertaining family and friends alike, and we think would probably end up being the most popular room in the whole house. Upstairs, the property boasts three bedrooms and a beautiful family bathroom, complete with separate shower cubicle. Outside, there is a wonderful secluded garden, complete with decking area for relaxing in the summer months, and framed by palms to hint at even more tropical climes. This is a wonderful Village home, and we truly envy whoever is lucky enough to be the new owner…

In This Area - By Walthamstow Diary - Despite what people may tell you, Walthamstow Village was not invented by estate agents. It’s called Walthamstow Village because it was once exactly that, a village. Once the administrative heart of Walthamstow, the Village is now content to simply be the neon capital of Europe. An unlikely claim you might think, but visit God’s Own Junkyard on Ravenswood industrial estate and you’ll see what I mean.
When your mind has been blown by the neon, pop in to Mother’s Ruin Gin Palace and Wildcard Brewery. All three businesses are based on Ravenswood, making it the most exciting industrial estate on the planet. The Village is full of quiet residential streets that all have easy access to bucket loads of pubs and restaurants. Take in the Jazz at the Nag’s Head on Sunday afternoon, enjoy the excellent food and beer at the Queens Arms, and sample the legendary chicken and bacon jam burger at Eat17.
To walk off all the food you’ve eaten, wander to the 15th century Ancient House, check out St Mary’s Church and its ivy clad church yard, have a pint in the garden at the Castle Pub, then admire the art in the windows of the old iron mongers.
