Fuchsia Cottage is a gorgeous Cornish stone built detached cottage with an abundance of traditional character inside and out, nestled within interesting meandering gardens and located within a rural valley setting on the outskirts of the sought after hamlet of Penrose. This classic cottage has everything you would expect from a property of this age including beamed ceilings, chunky stone walls and a feature inglenook fireplace all sympathetically combined with modern convenience such as UPVC double glazed windows and an oil fired central heating system with a recently installed Worcester Bosch boiler.

The ground floor accommodation comprises of a conservatory entrance with UPVC double glazed windows on three sides and a tiled floor. A wooden door with glazed picture window panels opens into the breakfast room which has an attractive feature fireplace and double glazed window to the front aspect. From here are doors to the kitchen and lounge/dining room. The galley style kitchen is fitted with a range of floor and wall cupboards with an inset stainless steel sink and drainer unit, rolled edge worktops and a tiled splashback. There is space for a free standing cooker, washing machine and an under counter fridge. A double glazed window overlooks the front garden and the turned staircase, with understairs cupboard, rises to the first floor landing.

Into the highly characterful lounge/dining room with exposed ceiling beams and beautiful inglenook fireplace housing a cast iron wood burning stove and original recessed bread oven. The lounge has been sympathetically extended and now opens through to a sun room, retaining the true character of the property. This is a wonderfully relaxing place to sit with double glazed French doors opening out to the garden and there are further windows to the sides. A wooden latched door opens to the rear lobby and provides access to the rear garden through a double glazed door. There is a double glazed window to the side aspect with useful coat hooks and wooden bench beneath and opposite this a cloaks cupboard. There is a shower room/cloakroom fitted with a shower enclosure and fourth bedroom which is currently used as a study by the present owners. This part of the cottage would make for great guest accommodation having the shower room adjacent.

Up on the first floor you will find the landing where doors open to all three bedrooms and the family bathroom. The first two bedrooms are genuine double size rooms, both with a built in wardrobe and a rear aspect window, one of them with a wash hand basin. The third bedroom is currently fitted with hanging rail units and utilised as a dressing room with a double glazed window to the front aspect. The bathroom is fitted with a white suite comprising a paneled bath, wash hand basin, heated towel rail and low level wc. There are part tiled walls and an airing cupboard with insulated hot water cylinder and central heating controls. Services to the property include main water and electricity, septic tank drainage and an oil fired central heating system.

Fuchsia Cottage is nestled within beautiful gardens that are a true delight. Interspersed with an array of colourful and established plants, shrubs and small trees, there are two lawned areas as well as a summer house and natural spring water pump. There are also some stunning countryside views to enjoy across the valley. A winding path with steps lead from the rear entrance door up to the gated and graveled driveway and open fronted garage. A further set of steps lead down through a pergola to a small fruit and flower area and there is also a useful storage shed which doubles as a workshop. The cottage is bordered by an attractive Cornish stone wall separating the property from the lane where a wooden gate opens to the front garden.

The quiet rural hamlet of Penrose lies within 5 miles of the historic and picturesque fishing town of Padstow, offering an extensive range of cafes, public houses and restaurants, none more so than Paul Ainsworth's Michelin starred No.6 and of course Rick Steins esteemed Seafood restaurant. Within three miles is the bustling village of St Merryn offering a good range of amenities including several restaurants, a post office/grocery store, a bakers/delicatessen, a petrol station/garage and two Public Houses including Rick Stein's 'The Cornish Arms' serving great food and local ales. There is also a doctors surgery and Primary School with an excellent reputation. The cottage is a great base from which to explore the surrounding coastline that includes the beaches of Harlyn Bay, Trevone Bay, Constantine Bay and Treyarnon which are all located within a 3 mile radius. The nearest mainline station is Bodmin Parkway which is approximately 20 miles distant with the nearest airport at Newquay just 6 miles away.

To find Fuchsia Cottage, leave Padstow and follow the A389 for approximately 3 miles passing Trevisker Garden Centre along the way. Continue along the A389 as it becomes the B3274 and then turn right at signs for St Merryn Park. Follow this lane to the next t-junction and turn left following signs for Rumford and St Eval. Follow this lane all the way through Rumford and out the other side. At the next t-junction, follow signs to Penrose and follow the lane all the way into Penrose. As you reach the village green, turn right just after the red telephone box and follow the lane away from Penrose. Fuchsia Cottage can be found about half a mile down this lane on the right hand side. The postcode for satellite navigation is PL27 7TD.
