PROPERTY HISTORY
We believe that the front part of the house facing onto North Street dates back to the mid 17th Century, a time when Lostwithiel was being rebuilt following the ravages of the English Civil War. It would appear that the walls of the main part are constructed of Cob and there is evidence of a large inglenook type fireplace in the lounge, which would be consistent with that era.

-
The rear part of the property was converted at a later date (Circa late 19th Century) from stabling and the adjoining passageway still has the original flag stones, showing signs of wear from cart wheels. The property was also an ale house for a period of time known as the 'Maltsters Arms', which is confirmed in the old hand written deeds. The property then changed usage several times over the decades, being a dairy and a shop before it's conversion to a private dwelling around the 1960s/70s. The large walk-in attic reveals original features including the old roof beams held together by wooden pegs and there is also a section of 'wattle and daub' wall which is a further indication of the property's age. The front portion of the roof retains the original Cornish rag slates.

SITUATION
The ancient stannary town of Lostwithiel is a popular Mid-Cornwall location steeped in history and renowned for its vibrant community. The town boasts an array of local amenities including a variety of shops, restaurants, public houses, professional services, dentist and health centre. There is also a main line railway station on the Penzance to London line and a choice of two Primary schools. Secondary schools are available at nearby Fowey (7 miles) and Bodmin (5 miles) respectively. A purpose built community centre offers recreational and sporting facilities next to the 'King George V' playing field.
