Full description

This area of Walthamstow offers lots to do, particularly if sport is your thing. Just a stroll across Markhouse Road takes you to Walthamstow Leisure Centre (we’re still old enough to remember when it was called Kelmscott Leisure Centre!), whilst in the opposite direction the green open spaces of Low Hall sports ground beckon. If you wander past St James Park (lovely for a morning run with the dog) there’s Douglas Eyre Sports Centre (can you see a theme developing here?), and the wonderful Walthamstow Marshes, where you can blow away the troubles of the day as you meander down to Springfield Marina. However, don’t think it’s all exercise and no play. No, this area has plenty to keep you occupied when it’s time to relax. Wander down Markhouse Road to the market and check out The Chequers (sorry!), stop for a caffeine hit in one of the many independent coffee shops, or even stroll into Walthamstow town centre itself.

Living Here... - With the last finishing touches being added as you read, this one bedroom ground floor flat is box fresh and ready to go, making it perfect for all you DIY-phobes. Finished to a high standard throughout (don’t take our word for it – look at the photos), this is the ideal first time purchase. Comprising lounge, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom, each of the rooms has its own personality thanks to the clever use of different flooring and colour schemes.

In This Area - By Walthamstow Diary - If you find yourself wandering around St James Street, look to the walls, they have a story to tell you. Don't worry, I've not taken a funny turn, I'm referring to the ghost signs that litter this part of Walthamstow. Faded and flaking though they are, these painted signs give us a glimpse in to the past. These days, there's a lot happening on this little street. You can get a bottle of locally brewed wildcard ale from cafe 56, who also sell one of the best breakfasts I've had. Their cocktail nights on Friday evenings are also worth a visit. The station will get you to Liverpool Street in 14 minutes, and you can grab a tea or coffee from Tom at the perky blenders coffee Van to drink on the way. If you like Indian food or flock wallpaper, the Bengal curry house is a must. Get some gozleme from Yildirim bakery, then walk it off with a trot around St James Park. Oh, and if you have a problem with your bike, don't worry, Walthamstow cycles are about to open a shop here.
