About Alfreton
At less than five miles from the M1, in north Derbyshire, Alfreton provides ready access to Derby, Nottingham and Sheffield and there are multiple other benefits within the town itself. With a population of circa 20,000, the main industries are warehousing, retailing and the service sector including health, education and leisure.

It is a busy urban centre with a number of national chain stores, along with independents and a large Tesco's. There are several banks, building societies, estate agents, an indoor market, library, two post offices, a job centre and numerous pubs and food outlets. It has been a centre for commerce since the medieval times, a former coal-mining town and it also has some excellent examples of 18th century architecture and a parish church which dates from the 13th century.
