Full description

Osprey house is a delightful four bedroomed, three bathroomed wing of an historic mansion close to the village of Monymusk. Originally built as a hunting lodge but fell into disrepair in the 19th century, it was then restored and extended in 1884. Sir Robert Lorimer, the famous architect employed with the task, took great care to extend the property in keeping with the original. Consequently the distinctive 'Z' plan gable features throughout the structure and from the outside it is virtually impossible to distinguish the seventeenth century build from that of the nineteenth. The quality of Lorimer's design is evident in the riverside views afforded by a great majority of the rooms. This quality is an asset the present owner has perpetuated through the exceptional standard of the interior fixtures and fittings. The property is fully carpeted and curtained throughout.

Situation
Place of Tilliefourie is situated 20 miles north west of Aberdeen on the banks of the famous River Don. The original house dates back to 1606, but was restored and extended under the auspices of the famous architect Sir Robert Lorimer in 1884.

With the wonderful backdrop of Bennachie, Place of Tilliefourie sits in one of the most dramatic settings on Donside. Accessed via a sweeping drive through wooded parkland, the private riverside terrace, fishings and manicured lawns offer a rare opportunity to live in one of the most attractive Scottish havens imaginable. Rare species of bird are often to be spied along the riverbanks, attracted by the tranquillity of the riverside gardens
