LOCATION The attractive Suffolk village of Marlesford is situated in gently undulating countryside about 2 miles northeast of Wickham Market, 5 miles from the market town of Framlingham with its historic castle. Woodbridge, a well-known centre for sailing, is only 7 miles way. There is a choice of schooling, shops and medical facilities. Marlesford has a bus service and Wickham Market station (2 miles) is on the East Suffolk railway (Ipswich to Lowestoft line).

The county town of Ipswich is about 16 miles to the south, from where trains to London's Liverpool Street Station take just over the hour.

Aldeburgh, on the Suffolk Heritage Coast, is 9 miles away and Snape Maltings, home of the famous Aldeburgh Festival, is about 5 miles from Marlesford.

DIRECTIONS From the South using A12 follow signs to Lowestoft/Gt Yarmouth. Approximately 12 miles beyond Ipswich (and still on A12) continue to the end of the Wickham Market bypass dual carriageway down the hill into Marlesford.

From North or Midlands (and alternative route from London):

Use A14, bypassing Cambridge, Newmarket, Bury St Edmunds, Stowmarket, Needham Market. Turn left off A14 onto A140 (signposted Norwich) and after 300 yards turn right across the dual carriageway onto B1078 (signposted Coddenham) continue for approximate 14 miles of very pretty winding Suffolk road through several villages, to Wickham Market which is 3 miles south west of Marlesford. In Wickham Market turn left after about 1 mile join A12 (northward). Next village is Marlesford.

From Framlingham take the B1116 Wickham Market road and proceed to the A12 , turn left, the next village is Marlesford (see location map).

In Marlesford: Turn left off the A12 (signposted Great Glemham and Parham) by pink cottages and follow road passing a row of three white cottages, a pink house with thatched roof on your right, turn left at the Village sign and April Cottage is about 500 yards on the right hand side of the road behind a low brick wall.
