Doncaster is a racing certainty

The charming South Yorkshire town of Doncaster is renowned for its horse racing and railway heritage. The Doncaster Cup is the oldest regulated horse race in the world and is one of the biggest events on the sporting calendar. The development of an Education City Campus, the largest education investment of its kind in the UK, has boosted the town's reputation even further and many good schools are scattered throughout the town. Property in Doncaster is a mixture of old and new, and prices are generally lower than the national UK average - with the result that buyers get more for their money. Detached executive estates, flats in purpose-built blocks, modern family homes and large traditional homes are all on offer. The town was built on the site of a Roman fort, and remnants of the area's mining roots are evident in the buildings, adding to the unique flavour of the place.

Shop till you drop in downtown Doncaster

The town has gained a Safer Shopping Award and Fairtrade Town status, so the shopping experience is second to none. The Frenchgate Centre is home to a wide selection of craft shops and designer boutiques, and will satisfy the demands of the most discerning shopper. Good quality restaurants, clubs and bars add up to an excellent night life, and a variety of cinemas, art galleries and museums will appeal to culture lovers.

High-flying on the transport front

Robin Hood Doncaster Airport is an important European hub, which is an added attraction for holidaymakers and business travellers. The town is situated on A1 (M) and M18 motorways. It is also an important railway stop, with the east coast main line offering excellent inter-city and cross-country services. Doncaster is a vibrant, fun-loving town with much to offer people of all ages, and its excellent educational facilities and transport network make it a popular destination for property buyers.
