Harrogate - So much to discover in the heart of Yorkshire

Harrogate in North Yorkshire has long been a draw for people looking to move to a vibrant town from where the Yorkshire National Park is so easily accessible. Property hunters also move there for a number of other reasons, of course, particularly the eclectic range of homes for sale or rent.

Types of property available in Harrogate include: smart flats, luxury two and three-bedroom apartments completed to the highest standards throughout, good-sized family homes (semis and detached), outstanding residential developments - a favourite with retirees - and grandiose mansions.

Add to this a selection of beautifully presented Grade II listed buildings with formal gardens and land beyond, converted barns (on the town's outskirts), new build detached properties that take full advantage of some of the most dramatically scenic countryside in England, and you'll be spoilt for choice.

Getting there

Harrogate could never be described as a London commuter's ideal location, of course, but nevertheless, it is still easy to reach by road, rail and air (from all over the UK). From the South, the M1 and A1 provide excellent links. From the North, the M62 does likewise. High speed trains from London take 100 minutes.

Things to do

Annually, millions of pounds are generated into the town's economy through tourism. Attractions and things to do include: The Royal Pump Room Museum, Harrogate Theatre, The Odeon Cinema, The Mercer Art Gallery, Falconry Days and Hawk Walks, and even visits to a Turkish bath and spa.

When it comes to finding great retail therapy, locals (and initiated visitors!) generally head for the Victoria Shopping Centre, where all the nationwide chain stores can be found. Exclusive boutiques and local independent shops stock an array of goods - just about anything you need.

Finally, in central Harrogate outstanding residential developments spring up all the time. But, before making your final decision, do arrange a few viewings of properties on the town's outskirts. There can often be some delightful dwellings for sale in Knaresborough, Wetherby, Ilkley, and Ripon.
