Lincoln - Beautiful Lincolnshire's welcoming county town

Lincoln is Lincolnshire's county town, and Lincoln properties can include some of the finest in the country. This is because of a drive during the 19th century to build numerous attractive Victorian houses in the city, to accommodate the middle classes. These still stand and come on to the market fairly regularly.

Property in Lincoln covers the entire accommodation spectrum. Singles seeking a compact bolt-hole can choose from an array of suitable flats and studios. For couples, a stylish, modern one or two-bedroom flat or luxury apartment is easy to find. For families, there are detached houses aplenty.

Getting there

Lincoln is too far from the capital to be categorised as an ideal London commute. That said, it is an easy city to access via car, coach and train.
Trains from Lincoln Station to London Kings Cross are frequent (expect a 2½ hour journey). Motorways serving the city include the A1, A15, A46 and A57.

Among the many great places to eat and drink in this wonderfully relaxed city are The Modern Classic Cafe, Pomodoro E Basilico, the Bottle and Glass, and the incomparably atmospheric Wishing Well.

When it comes to retail therapy, the city certainly won't disappoint. It has a wide range of independent shops and boutiques, with the best of these to be found in the Cultural Quarter. All the big name high street stores are there, of course. And the covered Waterside Shopping Centre is as modern as it gets.

Education in Lincoln

Lincoln University's rise up the university league tables has been nothing short of meteoric. Typical of the forward-thinking city, the University's new city centre campus was the first to be built in the UK for decades. State primary and secondary schools in the city number over a hundred.

Finally, house prices in Lincoln and its surrounding villages can often be lower than those in neighbouring counties such as Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, and South Yorkshire. Detached three-bedroom properties, tidy bungalows, spacious terrace houses, luxury flats and even thatched cottages can all be found at attractive prices.
