South Wales - Easily reachable by car or high-speed train

South Wales is the most densely populated region in the south-west of the United Kingdom (over two million people choose to live there!). Some were born and bred in the region, of course, while many have relocated to there from within other Welsh areas, across England, or from overseas.

Property in South Wales (to buy or rent) can include spacious three and four- bedroom detached houses (with extensive gardens), smart townhouses (look in Cardiff and Swansea for those), luxury high-specification apartments, stone cottages with huge fireplaces, barn and granary conversions, and more.

Single story homes have always been hugely popular with local people in the region. Many are much more than simply bungalows (for retirees). In fact, thousands of Welsh families prefer to live in 3 / 4 bedroom bungalows in convenient yet quiet locations close to the edge of towns and cities.

Getting to South Wales

The region is reasonably easy to access by rail, road, air and sea; although, transport links in remote areas can be patchy at the best of times. Cardiff and Swansea (and other South Wales towns and cities) are reachable via the M4 motorway. High-speed trains from London stations to South Wales can take about three hours.

Attractions

For families who love the outdoors, South Wales is a must-include on a "locations to visit on our property search" list. Great afternoons out can be enjoyed by all at Cardiff Castle, Cantref Adventure Farm, and The National Roman Legion Museum, while picnics in Cwmcarn Forest can also be a delight.

Finally...

Several leading Welsh universities and colleges providing Higher Education courses can be found in the south, the renowned University College South Wales and Monmouthshire (now Cardiff University) being one.

Bear in mind that state primary and secondary schools may offer Welsh and/or English language curriculum, so it is worth checking out the situation at the schools in the area where you're thinking of buying property.
