Well set up in Woking

Situated just 25 miles from London, Woking was originally a village located at what is now Old Woking. In 1838, The Basingstoke Canal and the railway opened up links to London and the area's population soared.

A large part of the town reflects the Victorian expansion of that time, but new developments of shops, offices and apartments have greatly enhanced the area.

The Peacock, the town's modern shopping centre, has everything any self-respecting retail guru requires, and there are numerous bars and restaurants around the Chertsey Road area. For entertainment, head to The Ambassador Cinemas and New Victoria Theatre.

The area benefits from a selection of good primary and secondary schools, both independent and state, and Woking College provides further education options for the over 16s.

Woking races ahead as a thriving community

Property in Woking differs from area to area, but a wide range of house styles and living accommodation is always on the market, from flats and terraces to detached and semi-detached new build family developments.

The town is home to the McLaren Group, which comprises McLaren Racing and McLaren automation, builders of the Formula One racing cars driven by champions Jensen Button and Lewis Hamilton.

A large infrastructure and improvement programme is ongoing, with many developments in the pipeline.

Efficient travel links

Woking is linked directly to the capital via a mainline rail service to London Waterloo, and there are fast, regular services to the South and South West. Trains depart for the capital at least every 10 minutes throughout the day, and the journey takes just half an hour.
Lying approximately mid-way between Heathrow and Gatwick airports, Woking is served by a direct coach link to Heathrow. The town centre is within a 10-minute drive of the M25, M3 and A3.

This town has much to offer as a place to live, work and play, and its location near to London is undeniably an added attraction.
