LOCATION:
Anstruther is a popular coastal town located
adjacent to the north banks of the Firth of Forth
approximately 20 miles northeast of Kirkcaldy
and 9 miles southwest of the popular tourist
town of St Andrews.

The former Waid Academy is split between two
sites. Lot 1 is on the site of the new school which
is located on the eastern side of St Andrews
Road bounded by the junctions of Farm Road
to the south. Lot 2 (South Waid) is located on
the corner of St Andrews Road and Crail Road
with access taken directly off Farm Road to the
north.

DESCRIPTION:
Waid Academy was officially opened in 1886
and is a categorgy C Listed single storey
traditional stone and slate constructed
educational building which has been extended
over the years.

Lot 1 was part of the principle school building.
Connected to this is a further two storey
traditional stone and slate building which was
previously the Head Masters house but latterly
used for additional teaching rooms. Most of the
various extensions to the rear of the original
school building are scheduled for demolition
to provide an all weather sports pitch and
additional parking for the newly constructed
school, and which therefore will be outwith the
boundaries of the subjects of sale.

South Waid (Lot 2) is partly category C Listed
and comprises a 9 bay single storey traditional
stone constructed building erected in 1901.
This building sits on an elevated plot to the north
of Crail Road and was extended in the 1955.

The two storey extension on the west elevation
is not considered of special interest in Listing
terms and could therefore be demolished. To
the rear of the annexe buildings are a series
of temporary building structures which are
scheduled for demolition. The clearance of
these temporary structures will create additional
generous outdoor space potentially suitable for
additional development.
