The Opportunity

Our clients purchased the store through Christie & Co approximately 11 years ago and are now looking to sell in order to retire. They work full time in the business, together with a contingent of staff. There is an alcohol licence however the store currently closes no later than 7pm. A new owner may wish to open longer hours.

There are newspaper deliveries as well as sales over the counter. There are four delivery rounds in the morning and two delivery rounds on Sundays, there are at present no afternoon delivery rounds. The average newspaper bill at cost is £1,600.

Staff

Our clients work full time in the store with their daughter, who has worked in the business for over 15 years and would like to remain, she is able to work in both the retail store and Post Office, which could be an advantage for both first time buyers and experienced operators alike. There are also three other staff working between the store and Post Office. Annual wages since staff levels were reduced in 2018 are c. £18,500.
