Full description

The Golden Hind Museum Ship is moored in a prime position in Brixham's sheltered inner harbour. The town is a popular South Devon tourist resort and fishing port. Brixham, with its neighbouring towns of Torquay and Paignton, make up and surround Torbay; also known as the famous English Riviera.
There are plenty of things to do and see in Brixham which is located at the southern point of this stunning bay, which has been a popular tourist and retirement destination since Victorian times. Brixham has a host of historic sites to visit including the Golden Hind, and the statue of William of Orange, plus there are also many tales of smugglers and pirates surrounding the town. Around the historic harbour and streets there are numerous cafes and boutique shops waiting to be explored. There are also a number of charming streets lined with colourful fishermen's cottages. To complement these, there are also traditional pubs and many quality restaurants serving fish landed at the famous local Brixham fish market nearby.

The Golden Hind is the full-size replica of one of the most iconic ships from the Tudor age of exploration. This replica was built in 1987, is one of only two in the world, and is fabricated on a heavy steel hull for stability. This ship replaced the first replica which had been moored in Brixham since 1963. A popular tourist attraction, the ship offers a fascinating and engaging tourist experience, giving all visitors an experience of living history, learning, and FUN.

The Golden Hind is the focus of many of Brixham's annual events, including the annual Pirate Festival in May, as well as the town's various firework displays. For further information, prospective purchaser's may visit the ship during opening hours and experience it for themselves. Please also visit the website Please note that all sales information and queries should be directed to Bettesworths and not to ship crew.

The current owners have extensively refurbished the attraction in the past three years and the ship regularly receives positive feedback and reviews from its many thousands of visitors each year. Any new owners will be able to capitalise on the improvements already made, and build upon the firmly established business model, clientele and reputation, both locally, nationally and internationally. The business is currently run on a low overhead basis, with the help of part time and seasonal crew. The business is unique, and being sold for only the second time in 45 years. This is a rare opportunity to acquire a thriving business with significant potential for growth. Further details and accounting information will be made available to interested parties after viewing.

The Golden Hind Museum Ship currently operates for around 240 days per year from February to the end of October. During winter months, maintenance is undertaken. Day ticket prices are £5 for children and seniors and £7 for adults. Families can board for £18 which includes a free 40pp Souvenir Guide Book. In addition to tourist visitors and locals, the ship welcomes over 1000 school children annually for educational trips, which include a talk by a Tudor costumed guide. This ship is a certified Learning Outside of the Classroom location. The Golden Hind may be booked for filming, children's parties and adult receptions. This ship has recently appeared on the BBC One Show and on Channel Four with Heston Blumenthal.
