About the Development

Set in the delightful Yorkshire village of Sherburn in Elmet, Saxon Gardens offers the best of both worlds, with the peace and quiet of village life combined with excellent commuter links to nearby towns and cities, including Leeds and York. What’s more, Sherburn is no ordinary village, with a superb sense of community and a highly popular aero club with its own airfield.

Coming soon to the village, Saxon Gardens will offer two, three and four bedroom detached and semi detached homes in Sherburn, featuring our award winning Heritage collection.

Amenities

There is a post office in the village, along with Spar, Co-op, Aldi and Tesco Express supermarkets for your weekly grocery shopping. For doctors, register with Sherburn Group Practice in Beech Grove (Sat Nav LS25 6ED, call 01977 682208) and for dentists try Elmet Dental Care on Low Street (Sat Nav LS25 6BG, call 01977 682573)

Dining

Dining in this part of the world is very much focused on fine home cooking in friendly country pubs, and there are many hidden surprises in and around Sherburn, including the Red Bear, Oddfellows Arms and Forresters Arms in the village itself, the Queen o’ t’ Owd Thatch in South Milton, the White Horse in Church Fenton and the Ash Tree in Barkston Ash.

The village is also home to a handful of traditional restaurants, including Bon Restaurant and Wine Bar and Saffron for Asia cuisine.

Education

At Redrow, we understand the importance of building our family homes near high quality schools, and in Sherburn you’ll be spoiled for choice, despite the relatively small size of the village.
The Sherburn has a choice of two Ofsted ‘good’ rated primary schools. Both Athelstan Community Primary, close to the development, and Sherburn Hungate to the north of the village, come highly recommended and are popular choices for Sherburn families. The village also has its own high school, saving older pupils a long bus ride into town. Sherburn High School is a specialist science school and lies within walking distance of The Sycamores.

Leisure

Few villages can boast their own aerodrome, let alone some of the finest facilities in Britain. Sherburn Aero Club offers a wide variety of pleasure flights and lessons, along with a popular social programme that is the highlight of the village calendar. For more grounded sports, head for the leisure centres at Garforth and Kippax, both just a short drive away, or join one of the many village teams, including rugby league, football and cricket. You can hang up your ‘gone fishing’ sign and head for Bacon Factory Pond, or tee off at either Scarthingwell or Cocksford golf course.
If you fancy a change of scenery, the culture of thriving Leeds and the history of ancient York are both close by for a great day, or night, out.

Shopping

As with most villages, the traditional market is the focus of shopping twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays. You’ll also discover a surprisingly good selection of shops in the village centre, with traditional independent butchers and greengrocers alongside big names like Boots.
For a more extensive shopping trip, head for the historic Shambles of York, or the huge arcades and shopping malls of Leeds, including the Corn Exchange, the Grand Arcade and Trinity Leeds.

Transport

Enjoying the village lifestyle often means living off the beaten track, but not in Sherburn. The village has a choice of two stations, Sherburn in Elmet, which lies to the east of the village and has a small car park, and South Milford Station, which lies a short drive to the south, and has parking for 30 cars. Sherburn in Elmet station has services to York in 17minutes and Sheffield in around an hour, while South Milford has services to Leeds just over 20 minutes away.
Connections are just as good by road, with the A1(M), M1, A63 and A162 all within easy reach, opening up the whole of the region. Leeds and York are both around 16miles away, with Selby and Castleford closer at 9miles and Wetherby 12miles. For holiday travel, you can take off at Leeds Bradford Airport just 25miles away or set out to sea on the continental ferries of Hull just an hour’s drive away.

Ways To Help You Move

Mastermove

From old to new in 3 easy steps – and help
towards estate agents' fees

What is Mastermove?

Mastermove is a great way to make moving home simpler. It enables you to buy a brand new Redrow home, while we take care of selling your current property for you; even helping out with a contribution towards your estate agent's fees. With Mastermove, we'll arrange the valuations, appoint an estate agent to conduct your home's marketing activity and take the paperwork off your hands too.

Who is it for?

For all homeowners looking for a hassle free way to sell their home. Unlike Part Exchange, Mastermove covers any home, whether it's a flat, maisonette or ex-council house, whatever the value relative to the price of your new Redrow home. So whether you want to move up, downsize or even step sideways, Mastermove could be the best move you could make.

How does it work?

Mastermove helps you move into your brand new Redrow home in three simple steps:

  • Step 1 - Find your Redrow home and register on Mastermove.

  • Step 2 - We arrange 3 valuations and agree a price that will sell your house fast. We then instruct up to 3 of our approved estate agents to vigorously market your property and we’ll also agree how much we pay towards your estate agent’s fees.

  • Step 3 - With your old house sold, you can buy your brand new Redrow home and move in as soon as it’s ready.

What should I do next?

For an easier way to move, talk to a Redrow Sales Consultant today about how Mastermove can help get you moving.

The contribution towards *estate agent's' fees will vary depending on the property being purchased. Please liaise with our Sales Consultants for full details. Please note, if having sold your property through Mastermove, you decide for any reason you no longer wish to proceed with the purchase of the Redrow home, then you become responsible for the estate agent's fees and costs. If a customer completes on their related sale prior to the completion of their Redrow home they must pay the estate agent fees in full and the Redrow fee contribution will be reimbursed upon legal completion. Subject to build stage.
