    Trained Staff

    Durrants are licensed letting agents, as such most of our staff are either members of the Association of Residential Lettings Agents (ARLA) or the National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA). In addition to that we have Chartered Surveyors in most offices and all Durrants residential staff attend regular training throughout the year.

A Guide for Tenants

    Are you Ready?
    • Notify your employers / HR department that they will receive a reference check.
    • Arrange to have funds available.  Cash or bankers draft on day or payment in advance.
    • Standing order for rent arranged
    • Utility companies notified
    • Local Authority notified regarding Council Tax
    • Oil ordered (if required)
    • Contents insurance arranged
    • Redirect post

    The Letting Process

    Below is a brief summary showing the main steps in the process: -

    • View properties and choose one that suits.
    • Complete referencing / credit check form and pay referencing fees.
    • Advised of referencing results.  If references are approved you will be sent a draft Assured Shorthold Tenancy. 
    • Draft Assured Shorthold Tenancy approved.  Date agreed for moving in.
    • Meet with Durrants pay outstanding monies (tenancy agreement, checking in fee, 1st months rent and deposit.
    • Go round property and check in with schedule of condition.
    • Keys handed over

    The Deposit

    Since April 2007 all deposits have to be held in accordance with one of the three schemes authorised by HM Government. 

    Durrants are members of The Dispute Service. All deposits held by Durrants are held in accordance with the rules of the scheme. If the Landlords holds the deposit under one of the schemes we will provide you with details of the appropriate scheme. 

    Should there be any dispute at the end of your tenancy that cannot be resolved between you and the Landlord it will go to an independent assessor from the Scheme.

    Andrew Lefevre - Residential Letting Area Manager
    Andrew is an Area Manager who runs our Harleston office and the lettings operation. Andrew joined the N.A.E.A in 1977 and became a fellow in 1984, he is also a member of A.R.L.A. Before joining Durrants in 2004 Andrew was a Regional Director of a national chain and had previously run his own successful estate agency. Any spare time is spent with his family, following and participating in sport or reading.

    Wendy Smith - Lettings Manager Harleston
    Wendy works in the lettings department for Durrants but has been involved in this industry for many years, giving her extensive knowledge of too many subjects to mention connected with rentals (and sales). Prior to this, she worked in several administrative/secretarial positions. Born in Norfolk and spending any spare time walking in the countryside and travelling wherever she can.

    Teresa Walsh - Lettings Manager Halesworth
    Teresa joined Durrants in 1996 and qualified as a member of The National Association of Estate Agents in 2004. She is Manager of Residential Lettings in our Halesworth office and became a member of the Association of Residential Lettings Agents in 2010. Teresa is Chair of Halesworth Event Management who are responsible for the Christmas Lights. She has four children, two boys and two girls and has four grandchildren also two boys and two girls.

    Amber Page - Lettings Manager Beccles, Southwold
    Amber is the Letting Manager for our Southwold and Beccles offices and joined the company in late 2017. Amber has been an estate agent for 3 years and has achieved an ARLA which enabled her to progress onto Lettings Manager. Out of work Amber enjoys being social and going for walks with her dog Oscar.
