Lowestoft is a traditional fishing port and seaside town and famed for being the most easterly point of the UK. In recent years the town has been benefitting from various regeneration projects. There's still a traditional street market in the centre of the town, with stalls selling a range of produce, including fresh fish; and the historic high street has a range of independent and unusual shops to explore. But the stand-out feature of the town is its fantastic expanse of sandy beach.
Transport links are good. The A12 runs through the town, linking Lowestoft to London. By train it's three hours to the capital, or there are hourly trains to Norwich, which is only 22 miles away (Ipswich is 38 miles).
Lowestoft is very affordable compared to the likes of Southwold, only 15 minutes away. There's an array of property to choose from, from period homes to large townhouses and modern apartments.
