Anyone staying in a property in Florida should make time to visit the Everglades National Park, it has been stated.
Travel+Leisure magazine named the nature reserve as one of the top locations for wildlife spotting in the US, noting that there are a number of fascinating creatures to be discovered on a visit to the park.
"It's the only place in the country to spot crocodiles and the most reliable places stateside to see greater flamingos," the publication commented.
Other animals that can be seen on an excursion to the Everglades from a property in Florida include egrets, herons, bobcats, alligators and the elusive manatee, the news provider added.
The diverse range of habitats that can be found in the national park – which include both salt and freshwater environments as well as dry land – is what makes it a haven for a variety of wildlife.
It is a Unesco World Heritage site, as well as being an International Biosphere Reserve and a Wetland of International Importance.
