A truly unique stone built house of great quality totalling approx 790 sq.m/8500 sq.ft steeped in history and built on the original lands of Monkstown Castle in 1859 for the honourable J.W Vesey who commissioned the renowned architect Deane and Woodward in 1858.
The property stands on land which made up part of the estate owned by the Vesey's (Viscount de Vesci) who together with the Packenhams (Earl of Longford) were the inheritors of the Monkstown Castle Estates of Archbishop Boyle. Thomas Vesci became 3rd Viscount de Vesci in 1855 and the property remained in his family until 1935. W. J. Vesey died in 1863.

The architecture of the property features many hallmarks of the renowned Deane & Woodward style. The property is an amalgam of northern & southern gothic detailing. Venetian influences are strongly evident and are most manifest in the staircase window derived from fourteenth & fifteenth centuries, arcading at the Doge's Palace on Ca' Foscani. The property also features steep pitched roofs & tall chimney stacks and typical pierced Venetian detail in the windows with Caen stone gothic arches, balconettes and detailing. The typical style of Deane & Woodward is carried through to the interior which feature notching on internal joinery & architraves, fretted balustrades, stunning original tiled floors in the entrance hallways and strong marble fireplaces. The motif on the banisters is repeated on the marble fireplace in the main diningroom and cornicing in the sittingroom.

The present owners have been in possession of the property since 1979 and they ran a nursing home in the house from approx 1980 - 1996. Glandore House has most recently been used as a guest house and will suit a variety of purchasers including possible re-development into multiple units (subject to planning permission).
A number of roof lights were added to the west & south elevations and the addition of a lift tower to the front.
