This process involves utilizing the calories present in the air, thanks to solar radiation, to generate heat. It's very simple. One great advantage offered by aerothermal energy is that calories are not only present in the air when it is hot, but also when it is very cold. Some manufacturers claim that their equipment operates at -20º temperatures. Therefore, this energy source may be produced year-round without limit. Heat pumps work by taking heat from the ambient air outside (aerothermal)
All heat pumps have two key components – the condenser and the evaporator.
Refrigerant transfers heat from one area to another. When refrigerant is compressed it becomes a high temperature, high pressure liquid. The liquid refrigerant expands within the evaporator, absorbing heat and creating a low temperature, low pressure gas.
An aerothermal unit will have an outdoor unit, with a fan and finned coil. A geothermal unit uses a labyrinth of pipes buried in the ground or a body of water. In the winter months the heat pump extracts heat from the outside air (aerothermal), and transfers it via ducted fan coils.
