Set on a lush, green and relaxing hillside in Monte, in the heart of the Traditional Madeiran Quintas, this 2080 sq. m. property has the most magnificent sights: blossoming flowers all year round in the mature and well-established garden that surrounds the villa, and an unobstructed and panoramic view over the Atlantic Ocean and the city of Funchal.

This three bedroom villa was originally built in the 1920's, according to the locals, but was only registered in 1940. Full of charm and mystery, the property is kept private, mainly because of the naturally maintained extensive gardens. Despite being just two minutes walking distance away from the two existent bus lines and seven minutes from the cable car, the property does not have any direct neighbors and can pass unnoticed from the access roads.

The Madeiran style villa was totally modernized in 1986 to extend the accommodation for the three actual bedrooms and to install a swimming pool.

The ground floor opens up to a winter garden, located to the south, with a wooden ceiling painted in white. A fine mahogany staircase, set in the centre of the villa, leads to the upper floor, where a spacious hall welcomes you and connects the two further double bedrooms, one of them with an ensuite bathroom. To the west, an extensive living room with wooden details in the ceiling, offers unobstructed ocean and city views, competing only with the master bedroom's views south. This area which benefits from the natural light provided by eight generous sized glass doors, and from a modern fire-place placed in the centre, is almost never used by the current owners. It could be easily converted into a spacious and romantic master bedroom with ensuite bathroom.

As the property is at 600 meters altitude, in addition to the fire-places, the heating solution was also to install electric automatic heaters in the living areas and bedrooms, which are individually controlled by thermostats. It is possible to use the 10 X 5 sq. m. swimming pool in the winter or on colder days. In 2015, when it was renovated, the owners installed a movable cover and heating provided by solar panels or, on cloudier days, if necessary, by a heat pump.

The house is furnished with Portuguese and English fine antiques. The sales price includes the furniture.

The main accesses to the property are from the north. The spacious driveway, covered in stone basalt, provides external parking spaces for guests. The garage at the end of that driveway is for one car, but another car can be parked on the east side of the property, on a parking deck, accessed via another entrance gate.
