Molinum, a Soulful Country House offers a tranquil retreat with 2 outdoor swimming pools and sweeping views towards the Atlantic Ocean. It is 5 km from Boliqueime and 16 km from Albufeira.

The whole project of rural tourism has its grounds on the mill existence and has been developing around it. The mill is the soul and the brand image of the project. Molinum and the Mill’s House, or Casa do Moinho, have been lovingly restored by his owner, who has taken great care to recreate the ambiance and spirit of a turn of the century farmstead. A distinctive saffron and white coloured buildings, typical Algarvian beamed ceiling in the living room with fireplace, and beautifully furnished with antiques.

This unique property offers accommodation each one with air conditioning and a décor with antiques. Guests can enjoy a breakfast made of regional products and use the fully equipped kitchen.

The windmill was built in 1900 and originally had a rye straw ceiling. The windmill sails and clay whelk were connected to an oak mast who was placed in a wood structure that rotated according to the wind.

When the wind came up the sails would turn. The wind would pass through the clay whelk and make a sound that was heard in the surrounding neighbourhoods. This was the signal that the windmill was working. At this point people would come to the windmill, put the cereals in donkeys or mules, walk up the hill and grind their cereals.

The windmill became a community space, but also a nursery of Almond trees. It was considered to be an industry and there are still records present in the windmill of fees paid.

Among those records there are still traces of a previous mill that was built around 1838. Exactly where the house is located today.
