The city has about thirty thousand inhabitants and is located on the east coast of Spain, between the airports of Alicante and Valencia. Whoever visits Calp will love it. The city is a typical example of mass tourism as it originated in the second half of the last century. The old center, where remains of Moorish rule can still be seen, is surrounded by apartment buildings, shops and restaurants. The concrete semi-high-rise and high-rise buildings nowadays determine the face of Calp, together with the El Penon de Ifach, the 332-meter-high rock that is emphatically present halfway through Calp. In the summer months, the number of people who sleep in Calp is about two hundred thousand. Yet you never have the feeling that the city is bursting at the seams, because both the beaches and the catering industry have sufficient capacity to handle the enormous amount of tourists. The only thing you will notice is that in the months of July and August it can be quite difficult to find a parking spot in the immediate vicinity of the beaches.

Quien visite Calp lo amara. La ciudad es un ejemplo tipico del turismo de masas, ya que se origino en la segunda mitad del siglo pasado. El centro antiguo, donde aun se pueden ver restos del dominio morisco, esta rodeado de edificios de apartamentos, tiendas y restaurantes. Los edificios de hormigon de media altura y de gran altura hoy en dia determinan la cara de Calp, junto con El Penon de Ifach, la roca de 332 metros de altura que se encuentra enfaticamente presente a mitad de Calp. En los meses de verano, el numero de personas que duermen en Calp es de unos doscientos mil. Sin embargo, nunca se tiene la sensacion de que la ciudad esta a punto de estallar, porque tanto las playas como la industria de la restauracion tienen la capacidad suficiente para manejar la enorme cantidad de turistas. Lo unico que notara es que en los meses de julio y agosto puede ser bastante dificil encontrar un lugar de estacionamiento en las inmediaciones de las playas.

Het enige waar je het wel aan zult merken is dat het in de maanden juli en augustus vrij lastig kan zijn om een parkeerplaatsje te vinden in de directe nabijheid van de stranden.

De nos jours, le visage de Calp est determine par les batiments en beton semi-hauts et en hauteur, ainsi que par El Penon de Ifach, le rocher haut de 332 metres qui se trouve a mi-chemin de Calp. En ete, le nombre de personnes qui dorment a Calp est d'environ deux cent mille personnes. Pourtant, vous n'avez jamais l'impression que la ville est pleine a craquer, car les plages et le secteur de la restauration ont tous les deux une capacite suffisante pour faire face a l'enorme quantite de touristes. La seule chose que vous remarquerez, c'est qu'en juillet et en août, il peut etre assez difficile de trouver une place de parking a proximite immediate des plages.
