Full description:

Located on a 16,784m2 sea facing plot, this unique one-storey "eco" 168m2 house has the most breathtaking views and is in a quiet, tranquil area close to the village of Skopi and only 10 kms from the seaside and port city of Sitia. This unusual house has been designed and created with love and style, mostly built by hand and includes hand made furniture, fixtures and fittings.

There is the main house with attached small one room studio plus bathroom. There are five outbuildings: two are designed to look like small churches, one to house the water tank and one to house the dog. The third outbuilding is actually a Catholic chapel, dedicated and which has already held a marriage service. One last room is a workshop. Additionally, steps lead down into a cave, where a bedroom has been made, plus small sitting area, shower and toilet.

The main house comprises a living/dining room with glass doors which fold right back, so the house can be open to the shaded terrace and pool. There are no internal doors in the house, so all the rooms flow around curved doorways into one another. From the living room, with a large fireplace and piano, plus dining area, one comes to the kitchen and a big storage area with washing machine. Washing up is a pleasure, looking out over the garden to the blue sea. The kitchen is large enough to eat in and has a table and chairs.

A bedroom has two single beds and a bathroom, which also serves as a guest WC.

The master bedroom open out to the terrace and the sunrise can be watched from the bed. There are floor to ceiling customized wardrobes and cupboards. The bathroom has a corner oval bath, "rain" shower, a double sink and a toilet.

A third room is presently used as an office, but could be a small bedroom.

The swimming pool, with steps descending into it, has a big paved terrace around it and hand made concrete chairs and a table. Nearby is an extra storage room. There is a bbq and sunsets can be enjoyed from this area.

Columns in the house give almost a palatial feel. Sun facing windows are narrow slits to keep out the strong sun. Most of the furniture and equipment were handmade by the talented and artistic owner.

There is a private driveway with plenty of parking space. The house is ecological and self sufficient. Electricity comes via solar panels and a windmill. Water is held in the 9m3 tank and is delivered when required, inexpensively, by a local supplier. A solar panel also heats the water. Windows are double glazed. There is a septic tank (soakaway).

Towards the end of the garden one looks down the valley to the Gorge and within a few minutes drive is a pebbly beach. While the house has a remote feel, in fact it is not, as there is a nearby minor road for visitors to Faneromenis Monastery and All Saints Church nearby. Two major supermarkets are within a 5 minute drive, located on the way in to Sitia.

Heraklion airport at approx. 120 kms. There is an airport at Sitia with as yet, a limited number of international and domestic flights.
