Description and lay-out

A long, newly built driveway – accessible through an automated cast-iron gate – leads to one of the most beautiful country houses in the Bergen/Schoorl area. The country house consists of two residential wings, referred as the ‘Old Threshing Floor’ (‘Oude Deel’) and the ‘Coach House’ respectively.
These wings are connected by what is known as ‘the Corridor’. The Old Threshing Floor contains the original living quarters and was connected to the Coach House by the Corridor some years ago.

The Old Threshing Floor

The Old Threshing Floor has its own entrance, featuring an antique tiled ?oor and oak ceiling beams. The entrance also features a wardrobe and a spacious lavatory.
Immediately next to the entrance is the ‘Co?ee Room’, with its antique beamed ceiling and Dutch tiled ?oor, gorgeous 17th-century open ?replace and built-in antique display cabinets. At the front, this room o?ers a view of the dunes at Bergen and Schoorl, while the back faces the garden with its spacious terraces.

Adjacent to the Co?ee Room is the large, deluxe kitchen, with its vintage tiled ?oor and beautiful antique Dutch tile decorations. A vintage double door leads directly from the kitchen to the front garden.
To the other side of this wing’s main entrance is the Threshing Floor – a beautiful living room of very generous proportions with a ceiling height of almost ?ve metres. The Threshing Floor o?ers a view of the beautifully landscaped gardens at the back of the house. Some highlights of the Threshing Floor include its enormous open ?replace with beautiful, ancient ornamentation, the antique Dutch tiled ?oor, the 16th-century oak-beamed ceilings and the antique oak staircase leading to an antique oak gallery. A row of vintage doors provides access to a spacious attic. Next to the Threshing Floor is the Small Threshing Floor (‘Kleine Deel’) – a cosy room o?ering a view of the side garden.

The Threshing Floor provides access to the master bedroom, a spacious bedroom with a large mirrored wall on one side, antique oak wall cabinets on the other and a beautiful view of the side garden. The master bedroom also features an oak-beamed ceiling. The master bedroom leads to the bathroom, featuring beautiful white marble and mirrored walls. The bathroom has two washbasins in vintage English style, an antique full-length marbled bathtub with a raised shower platform and an elegant semi-circular safety-glass shower cabinet. All taps and shower heads are in English-style brass.

At the back of the Threshing Floor is the ‘Gentleman’s Room’, with its antique tiled ?oor, wall cabinets and ceilings. This is a great place to read or watch television in peace and quiet, but it can also be used as a bedroom.

The top ?oor of the Old Threshing Floor contains a large space with a view of the Threshing Floor, two large bedrooms and a beautiful bathroom tiled in white marble, featuring a full-length bathtub and washstand in vintage English style. A tiled laundry and ironing room and two large side attics are also situated on this ?oor. The laundry room also provides access to the extremely spacious top attic. This attic could be converted into one or two bedrooms if desired.
The Corridor

The Corridor forms the impressive central entrance to the country house and connects both residential wings. At the same time, the Corridor functions as a central hallway as well as a very spacious garden room, with both double entrance doors at the front of the house and double French doors at the rear garden side. The Corridor leads to a guest lavatory and shower room tiled in white marble for users of the outdoors pool.

In addition to the large double doors and windows, highlights of the Corridor include its high domed ceiling and antique tiled ?oor, equipped with ?oor heating. The Corridor provides access to a lockable pantry and a spacious and fully tiled dog kennel with its own entrance, also lockable. Naturally, the dog kennel can also be used for other purposes.
The Coach House

From the Corridor arched double doors lead to the formal dining room. This is a beautiful and very generous room, featuring French doors on the garden side and providing direct access to a small hallway with its own tradesmen’s entrance. Adjacent to the dining room is a room where a pantry may be built; all necessary facilities are provided.
From the Corridor a curved oak staircase provides access to the library/study that runs the full length of the Coach House. From this room, two attics are accessible. The Coach House has its own heating and hot-water system.

Free-standing garage, gardener’s living quarters and tool shed.

Behind the Coach House is a spacious wooden building, housing a double garage, gardener’s living quarters and tool shed.

Guest house
The Coach House contains a tasteful apartment with its own entrance, a bedsit room, a shower and lavatory room, and its own kitchen with all mod cons. The apartment is fully equipped to serve as a domestic servant’s living quarters or a guest apartment.
