Secondary schools are found in the coastal town of Tramore 12km or Waterford city 15km.

There are many amenities close by, including the Waterford Greenway. The Waterford Greenway is a spectacular 46km off-road cycling and walking trail along an old railway line between Waterford and Dungarvan. Annestown beach is home to a beautiful beach just 7km from Rockwood.

The golf enthusiast is well catered for, with Tramore Golf Club, Waterford Golf Club, Waterford Castle Hotel and Golf Club, Faithlegg Golf Club and Williamstown Golf Club all within a short drive.
