Fully renovated in 2010 the hotel offers a high standard of guest and host accommodation in super spacious en suite rooms and generous communal areas. The flexible design means up to eight rooms can be dedicated to the hotel and up to three bedrooms for the host. This flexibility also ensures the property can be hired in its entirety as a large villa for up to 30 people or by room as a rural hotel, thereby responding to distinctly different seasonal demands.
The building has been designed to appeal to the ecologically conscious modern traveller, utilising solar engergy for electricity and hot water and renewable fuels such as wood pellets and olive stones to run the central heating system.
Although currently home to a thriving business with an excellent reputation, the property could equally well serve as a large private residence boasting two kitchens, laundry room, a gorgeous rustic stone and terracotta floored dining room and two living rooms, one with a library. An extensive exterior terrace dominated by a large Spanish Oak offers shade from the summer sun, while open fireplaces and wood buring stoves help to create a cosy ambience indoors during the winter months. More flat land on the next level down provides ample space for swimming pool and sundecks. There are outhouses for back-up gas stoves and power generation equipment, plus a large basement for storage.
The house comes with 8.5 acres (3.5 hectares) of virgin land with organic olive and almond groves, pasture and various vegetable plots, large enclosures and housing for free-range chickens and space for other livestock.
The location is peaceful, secluded and private with no immediate neighbours yet is easy to reach from Granada, Malaga, Almeria, Murica or Alicante. From any direction you will pass amazing scenery which just gets better the closer you get. It is surprisingly easy driving on very good roads, to arrive in the foothills of the Castril and Cazorla mountain ranges which boast peaks in excess of 2,000m
The pretty local village of Castril is a truly authentic Andalucian "pueblo blanco" with huge touristic appeal and a culturally significant annual fiesta which includes bull running. The region offers a rich history and archaeological heritage as well as a boundless wealth of natural attributes such as two natural parks which visitors love to explore through active pursuits such as walking, horse riding, mountain biking, rafting, kayaking, canyoning, rock climbing, canyoning, speleology .... the list is actually endless!
Remember, this is not just a fabulous house, but a key-ready, well established fully legal and licenced business with all necessary permissions and documents of ownership in place. Annual turnover is in the region of €120,000. Our summer season (July⁄August) is usually around 90% sold out by the end of February. All other UK school holiday periods bring significant business, but there is room for improvement. The hotel´s Spanish customer base is also well established with a strong demand for weekend and bank holiday business throughout the year and a lucrative Christmas and New Year trade. Whole house hire is particularly significant during public holidays, with the house currently renting for up to €650 a night (prices vary according to guest numbers, between 12 and 30). In addition there is plenty of scope to develop low season business by offering themed retreats and workshops. This is a genuinely thriving business. The current owners have legitimate reasons for selling and will be very sad to say goodbye to this wonderful undiscovered corner of Andalucia, which has provided them with a comfortable living for almost ten years.
