Santo Stefano al Mare is a typical Ligurian hamlet situated on the coast of the Western Riviera half-way between Imperia and Sanremo.
The Hamlet, thanks to its geographical position, enjoys a mild climate all year-round.
To its back there are vast flower cultivations and it is also home to a beautiful Marina "Marina degli Aregai"
The urban area of Santo Stefano al Mare dates back to Medieval times and is characterized by a square, now called Piazza Cavour, onto which are facing the Parish Church and Oratory dating back to the first half of the 16th century.
There are many attractions in this fantastic village, among which the bastion of Santo Stefano, the hexagonal tower (the only one in Italy to have nine sides) built following one of many Saracen incursions. Its calendar of events is always full, the most famous of which is the 'infiorata', a typical village festivity linked to the area's famous flower production, where the street is decorated with flower petals and is usually organized in May.
From the village one can easily reach the airports of Nice or Genoa; Sanremo, Borighiera, the French Riviera, other Ligurian medieval hamlets, as well as sports structures like the golf courses of Sanremo and Castellaro, and even the longest cycling path by the sea in Europe, 24 Km of incredible scenery, featuring bike hiring stalls, cafés and restaurants.
