Situated across the Guadiana River from the Portuguese Algarve, Isla Canela (Cinnamon Island) lies just a few minutes from the quaint town of Ayamonte, with its wide range of restaurants. shops and attractive squares. It is little more than 45minutes drive from Faro airport.
The ferry across the river from Ayamonte takes you to Vila Real de Santo Antonio in Portugal in less than 10 minutes. By car, the drive to Vila Real takes 15 minutes, while in Spain, the town of Huelva is about 30 minutes away and beyond the delights of the Doñana National Park, famous for its migrating birds. For history buffs the wonders of Seville and Jerez are a little over an hour away.

The glorious, safe sandy beaches, 1 mile south, are a major attraction, with beach-side bars and restaurants providing good food, especially fresh fish, and drink. Easy walking is available along the coast around the harbour and marina at Punta del Moral, with a further wide range of eating and drinking venues..

Isla Canela golf course is a good par-72 course and fees compare favourably with those in the UK. Compared to on-course, golf-property prices over the river in the Algarve, prices in this region of Spain are significantly more affordable.

We purchased No 9 from Pryconsa, a well regarded Spanish development company, in 2005, having selected the very best situated apartment in Prado Golf. My wife and I, family and friends have all enjoyed both long and short stays here every year since and have never been disappointed in our choice.

We love the peace and quiet and the views and enjoy the miles of sandy beaches, whilst our children, now grown up, love the water, bars and restaurants. However, due to changing retirement plans, we are sadly selling our second home and are certain that the new owners will enjoy the apartment as much as we have over the past years.
