Full description:

Quinta de Montezelo or Casa de Montezelo dating from the seventeenth century house with coat of arms of great architectural quality, officially classified as property of public interest, situated in the parish of Fânzeres, Gondomar, outskirts of Porto. Historically a family residence, the manor house of Casa de Montezelo was built in the 17th century in 1636 and later added to the Chapel in honor of Our Lady of Conception with a polychrome carved altar in 1703.
In this manor house lived the poet and writer of Porto Joaquim de Araujo Rangel Pamplona and Castro and several other distinguished members of the Araújo Rangel family. Also attended by Manuel António Gomes, the famous Father Himalayas.
The property has been listed as a Public Interest Property since 1993, including a harmonious array of spaces including the columned stone porch, tiled entry hall, dining room with fireplace, schist-walled buffet room , conservatory, chapel with polychrome carvings, garden of japoneiras, patio with old Portuguese pavement.
Right at the head, and before entering the house, an essential fact to keep in mind: there is a grand centenary magnolia that has been preserved for over three hundred years since the seventeenth century. Having clarified the priorities, it is important to look at the Araújo Rangel family coat of arms, right at the entrance, above the gate, which does not let the origins of this house be forgotten. Located in the parish of Fânzeres, Quinta de Montezelo, which was once one of the largest and most important in the region.
The façade is of great decorative purification, has a rectangular plan and a triangular pediment torn by an oculus and topped by a small molding.
Apart from the antiquity of the housing and chapel complex and beyond the magnolia, there is another element of this property of public interest that needs our attention: the cross, part of the ancient Via Sacra, composed of other crosses located in Manariz, Seixo and the last one in Santa Eulália, Casa de Montezelo is currently destined to the organization of social and business events and the Solar composed by 4 distinct buildings:
A chapel at the entrance with the gate and the stone of arms.
An independent house consisting of two floors connected by internal stairs including conservatory, balcony, a garage, two entrance doors (one on each floor). On the ground floor, a room with 50 m2 and natural light.
Main building linked to another building by a stone balcony with original columns and railings. A body consists of nine rooms, kitchen, three bathrooms, balconies, three fireplaces (one with hearth) several doors to the outside and gardens.
On the ground floor of this body there is a large fully equipped industrial kitchen, two large living rooms, two bathrooms and storage.
The other body consists of three large spaces:
Upstairs with a hall with social bathrooms, a beautiful living room with wooden floor, fireplace with hearth, two doors to the outside and four large windows.
On the ground floor is a large living room with natural stone walls, wooden ceiling and two large glass doors to the house's patio, internal stairs connecting the two floors.
These two buildings are surrounded by a stone terraced with pond, lawns, a 300-year-old magnolia tree and a beautiful Japanese garden.
At the rear you have access to a large plot consisting of a small chestnut grove with pond and stone fountain with storage house of stone garden, land with trees on two levels joined by a small orchard with apple, orange and lemon trees. .
Total land area: 10 000 m2. A dilapidated building where the winery (which still has the mill and millstone) operated last year's stone walls and century-old beams.
