It is only 45 minutes from Málaga and the airport. One can be at the beach in 10 minutes and in Granada in less than one hour. There is frequent bus service between Frigiliana and Nerja.

Among other historical facts, the village is known for the battle of Peñon of Frgiliana, between Christian troops and the Moorish people in rebellion against the Spanish Kingdom in the XVI century.
