The house is situated in a small hamlet 4 km north of the lovely village of Saint-Saud-Lacoussiere, which is a really good example of a typical Perigord village. The village has lots of amenities, including a mini supermarket, bakers, butchers, post office, pharmacy, bar/bistro/newsagent, 2 x hotel restaurants, hairdresser, doctor surgery and a small petrol station. On Friday mornings there is a small market with 2 or 3 stall holders. There is also a Mairie in the village if you require any information. There are plenty of things to see and do in and around Saint-Saud-Lacoussiere, especially during the holiday season. Between La Bucherie and St-Saud is the Grand Etang, a beautiful 30 acre public swimming lake with a man-made beach and other seasonal facilities, toilets and showers, life guard, ice cream, drinks and ''La Paillote'' a very popular restaurant, which is typically French and very popular with the locals. Saint-Saud also has an Arboretum and the ‘’Trou de Phillipou’’ a renowned beauty spot next to the river Dronne.
