- viale Martiri della Libertà 36
The building called Sandonnino, in the past belonged to the Sandonnini family of the same name, important personalities in the history of Modena with some exponents who held important offices in the past, such as Mayor and Podestà of the city and Senators of the Kingdom.
The result of a careful restoration that took place in 1990, the building takes us into a real blast from the past. The imposing main entrance with vaulted ceilings and wrought iron gates let us imagine the glories of the past that we still find today in the office that is offered for sale. This is an office at the moment, but is well suited to being transformed into a beautiful apartment.
It occupies part of the main floor, the first and consists of 10 rooms, plus two bathrooms, for a commercial area of over 200 square meters. Very bright and with various and large windows, overlooking the Martyrs avenue, the beautiful internal courtyard and the majestic buildings of Via Mascherella.
Frescoes and stuccos are present in almost all the rooms, in the main they occupy the entire ceiling, in the secondary ones they are simple embellishments. Two fireplaces in red stone dominate two of the larger rooms, fitting harmoniously between the two windows.
The Venetian flooring with ammonite red inserts runs from one room to another creating an effect of continuity and stops in the middle of the apartment to allow you to climb the 4-5 steps that characterize the second part of the same slightly higher, where we find also the two bathrooms.
The large interior spaces are in excellent condition, and the independent system ensures both heating and cooling of the entire building.
As in all the noble houses of the past there are more accesses, as many as three, one of which, probably in ancient times the one reserved for servants, is characterized by a spiral stone staircase. The main one, served by a lift, is a stairwell with absolute elegance and austerity, which takes us to the ground floor, where the splendor of the ancient owners is also reflected in the stained glass window in bright yellow and green lead.
The building is built around a cobbled-paved inner square that makes us discover a useful and very rare surprise in the ancient buildings ... a large private garage on the ground floor with a convenient access, as well as a very useful condominium space converted into a bicycle storage room.
For those looking for a large representative office or as mentioned in an apartment full of ancient personality could be the ideal solution.
