Queens Farm Road, Shorne, Kent, DA12

Description

Georgian elegance personified, rarely have we seen such a meticulous renovation of this fine period home. The property stands proudly in a plot of 1.8 acre affording views over surrounding countryside. The owners have created the perfect blend of old and new offering versatile space with large proportioned rooms ideal for a family, entertaining or working from home. The imposing double height hallway with flagstone floor leads to the hub of the home. The well appointed kitchen/family room has carved granite work surfaces, central island and fully restored bread/pizza oven and a large walk-in larder. French doors spill out onto the wide south facing patio terrace and formal gardens. The property has three further large reception rooms with both lounge and dining room having imposing fireplaces with wood burning stoves. The large utility/boot room provides access to usable two roomed cellar.

To the first floor the main bedroom provides walk-in dressing room and sumptuous en-suite bath/shower room. There are three further bedrooms and family bathroom. To the second floor are two further bedrooms, one of which has an en-suite.

The house is bathed in light with many double aspect rooms, the period features have been immaculately restored with stripped beams, original shutters, high skirting boards, panelled doors and wide stripped floorboards.

Outside the gated driveway leads to ample parking and triple garage. The delightful south facing formal gardens lead to rare fruit orchard, thoughtfully sourced and catalogued by the owner.

Seller Insight

It was my husband’s dream to live in the countryside and Queens Farms House appealed to him as it was an opportunity to renovate a grand, albeit very run-down Georgian property into the absolutely beautiful family home it is today,” says the owner. We spent two years renovating it to the highest standard with no expense spared. We contacted the Heritage surveyors who were excited by our plans and worked alongside a specialised company we discovered the original blinds folded into the walls and were plastered over as well as uncovering Georgian fireplaces that had rested for years behind a 1930s facade. We moved the cellar hatch from the dining room into the utility room to maximise the space and added underfloor heating in the kitchen and hallway as well as new bathrooms with roll tops baths and rainfall walk-in showers. The historic finds continued with the renovation of the bread oven that we had converted into a pizza oven. Samples had been taken from the beams, (truncated)
