The River Ayr Way long distance walking route passes close by, with some superb walking routes including a pleasant route from Sorn along a woodland trail to the Catrine Voes and Woodlands Local Nature Reserve, from which there are some fabulous views across to the magnificent 14th century Sorn Castle.

From Glasgow take the A77 to Kilmarnock and turn off for the A76 Dumfries Road as far as Mauchline. In Mauchline turn left on to the B743 proceed along this road to Sorn. Drive through the village past the Sorn Inn and Bowling Club and 36 Main Street is on the right hand side next to the B713.
