Property description
Residents at Gainsborough Studios benefit from a 24hr concierge service, an onsite Co-op supermarket, Gymnasium (HITIO) ( Membership Separate) and Bobo & Wild coffee shop which does excellent coffee and fantastic brunches. The site is stooped in history being on the site of the former Gainsborough film studios most famous for the Gainsborough Melodramas of the 1940's. The site was converted into residential apartments in 2004 and in the centre courtyard of the development resides a large sculpture of Alfred Hitchcock who made many of his films at the site.
The property is conveniently located for access to Hoxton and Shoreditch, with an array of trendy bars, restaurants, galleries and boutique shops. Old Street Underground (Northern Line), Essex Road (National Rail) and Highbury & Islington station (National Rail & Victoria Line) are the closest stations.
Some words from the owner:
What do you love most about your home/property?
Living at Gainsborough Studios has been a wonderful experience. The flat is warm and spacious with amazing south and east facing views across Shoreditch Park and the city skyline beyond (you can see the London Eye to the west, and all those iconic city skyscrapers towards the south). Being on the fifth floor, along the quieter Poole street gives a real sense of calm above the bustle. Having a underground car park just steps away from the elevator is definitely a huge plus, and the gym and Co-Op are super convenient.
Why are you selling?
We have settled back in New Zealand and are now in the process of building a new home. This means we are reluctantly selling to help us finance the build. We were genuinely hoping to hold onto the flat not just as a great investment, but as a forever home.
What do you love about the area?
The location is perfect for London living, with easy walking access to Shoreditch, Hoxton Square, Islington and the City. I could walk to work in Liverpool Street or Bank, or when at Canary Wharf, catch a direct bus from New North Road. There were countless nights out (not just in Shoreditch), some great local pubs and always something to see or do at the markets on a Sunday. Hackney has always had a great vibe.
