Description
If you are looking for a rural idyll then look no further!
Gelli is a truly incredible place that leaves its mark on anyone who is lucky enough to visit. A characterful Welsh Farmhouse built in 1839, with stone built barns, polytunnel, raised beds, numerous other outbuildings, waterfalls, pond and meadows all set in 21 acres of sublime river valley and surrounded by equally beautiful land giving you sense of being lost in the middle of a thousand acre estate.
The house is generously proportioned and with a real Welsh slate floor, inglenook fireplace and exposed stone walls, it is steeped in history, charm and character. Three reception rooms (all with log burners), kitchen and utility to the ground floor, while on the first floor there are four bedrooms and three bathrooms.
There are no near neighbours so the only sounds are birdsong and the mumbling river as it trickles along one boundary. The land, much of which has been rewilded, is a sanctuary for wildlife, with three large fields which are left to long grass with walks mown through them, an apple orchard for home made cider, a banked area with bluebells and campion and a wildlife pond.
The current owners have loved their time at Gelli and explain one of their favourite things ‘Sitting at the front of the house on the bench, watching the swallows, foxes and birds of prey down through the valley or wildlife on the pond has been so special and we will miss it dearly. We have loved our time here, being largely self-sufficient thanks to the prolific polytunnel, greenhouse, veggie patch and the lovely chickens. It's a very special place - an oasis of peace and tranquility and we shall take away many happy memories with us.’
Although you feel like you are a million miles away from everything Pen-Y-Bont is only a mile away and Talog and Trelech are only around 3 miles down the road.
