The quiet hamlet of Taynton is on the outskirts of the traditional and busy market town of Newent. Taynton has a Church, village hall (shared with Tibberton) and farm shop selling local produce. The nearby village of Tibberton (2½ miles) has a pre-school and primary school. Newent offers a good range of shops to satisfy most domestic requirements, together with a health centre, post office, library and leisure centre. A broader range of amenities can be found close by in Ross and Ledbury. This property is well placed for the commercial centres of Gloucester and Cheltenham, which offer more extensive retail, leisure and cultural facilities.


There are many fine walks, cycle rides and outdoor activities in the local area, with the popular Forest of Dean, Wye Valley and Malvern Hills all within easy driving distance. Newent and Ledbury offer a variety of sports clubs, including cricket, hockey, tennis, football and rugby, and both towns have a leisure centre/swimming pool. Nearby Hartpury college and Prestige Equestrian Centre (Hardwick) offer tuition and run a variety of equestrian events, both affiliated and unaffiliated. Annual Horse Trials take place at Homme House, Much Marcle, and superior outriding is available nearby in the Forest of Dean.


From Newent: Head out of the town centre southwards on Culver Street (the B4216). Stay on this road for about 2.8 Miles into Taynton and bear left at the junction/green with the village name marker on it. After about 0.2 miles take the right hand turn onto Moat Lane and follow the lane (keeping right at the small junction) and follow the lane to the end, where The Mote will be found on the left hand side.
