Description
Set well back from the quiet country lane, this wonderfully spacious home enjoys an elevated position which allows the occupiers to take advantage of some simply staggering panoramic views across the valley! Don't be deceived by the apparent size from the front as this home really is the ultimate in deception and offers so much space both inside and the addition of a secluded garden and external studio/ workspace cabin.
As you enter the front door, suddenly the house opens up both in front of you and also into the vaulted ceiling giving a fabulous feeling of light and space. The hallway offers a great area for shoes and coats and then expands into the generous open plan kitchen, dining room and family space. The kitchen is fitted with a range of modern units complete with solid oak worktops giving that slightly rustic feel back to the design. A breakfast bar offers the best place for a quick coffee and the fitted appliances include a fridge freezer, eye level double oven, and dishwasher. Storage is provided by huge pan drawers and a pull out larder amongst the other cupboard spaces. Alongside the kitchen there is access to a generous utility/boot room with access to the rear garden. Oak floor boards add to the country charm extending all through the kitchen area and into the dining/family room. Here you have copious amounts of space for a large farmhouse style table along with further seating if required. Wide double glazed wooden doors open out onto the rear patio and secluded garden providing the perfect flow to entertain with family and friends spilling out onto the garden on warmer days.
The large living room is a unique area with a full height Apex window, wide sliding doors to the front garden deck and vaulted ceilings adding to the feeling of space. In the summer open the doors and enjoy a sundowner on your raised deck whilst watching the outstanding sunsets across the valley. This excellent living room doesn't lose its cosy feel though with a wood burner recessed into the wall, wooden floors and beams throughout. The perfect room whatever the season.
Further accommodation downstairs includes a 4th double bedroom set alongside the modern shower room and a perfect study where you can work whilst overlooking the garden.
Upstairs there are 3 further bedrooms and the family bathroom. The master bedroom has plenty of built in wardrobes and storage along with superb views across the valley to wake up to. The 2nd bedroom is also a double room and the third a small double which also has a built in wardrobe. All are served by the family bathroom with modern fittings and a shower over the bath. A large airing cupboard adds to the useful storage on this level.
Outside further accommodation is provided by an excellent outdoor larch clad studio/ workspace. Perfect for a variety of uses, the studio is double glazed and insulated with recessed spotlights and French doors and windows onto the garden. How you use this room is your decision but it is a fantastic addition to the property as a whole.
The secluded and private rear garden is laid mainly to lawn with mature trees, shrubs and cottage garden plants to the borders. A wide patio extends across the house and offers superb space for seating and eating. A small rear gate gives access onto another quiet lane behind. Side access to the front and the utility also provides a great space to store unsightly bins and there is enough room on the other side of the house for a shed or three! The front garden is an equally useful size which comprises of a level lawn with picket fence and flowering borders, and a few steps up to the deck and door back into the living room. The long driveway provides plenty of space for many cars but there is also a lower gravelled area set off to the side which currently is excellent extra parking and storage. However, there is planning in place, should you choose to utilise it, for a garage plus office (or small annexe) to be built.
Box Hill is a small area of Box village tucked away at the top of the hill, thus taking in those excellent views. With a quiet rural feel, with an abundance of woodland and countryside walks on your doorstep, yet the convenience of an excellent public house in the Quarryman's Arms, large playing fields and parks nearby. Enjoy being nestled in the woodlands of Box Hill whilst a plethora of local amenities lie just under a mile away down the hill in Box village centre. Here there are many amenities including shops, Cafes, a sought after primary school, doctors surgery, chemist and recreational facilities including a large village hall, bowls club, playing fields and park. Enjoy many of the village community activities throughout the year from May Fetes through to the annual Box Rocks charity music event at The Queens Head. An essential and arguably one of the best Indian restaurants for miles is found at The Bear and with a strong arts and music scene, there is sure to be something for everyone to enjoy. In addition there are miles of countryside walks, cycle ways and woods to walk the dog or get some fresh air with the kids. The Georgian city of Bath is located just 6 miles away and regular bus services (takes approx. 20 mins) run through the village to connect you very easily. In addition in the other direction are Corsham and Chippenham where a mainline rail connection will take you to London Paddington in just over an hour. Road access to the M4 is easy via J17 or J18 at Bath depending on your onward direction. From a convenience perspective coupled with a local village setting, I really am struggling to find fault with Box village.
