Curtisknowle is a tiny hamlet tucked away in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the Avon Valley about halfway between Totnes and Modbury. While it appears remote on a map, it is quite accessible with Totnes within eight miles and the A38 within six. Just down the road, the River Avon has a disused railway line alongside it providing beautiful woodland riverside walks. There is an excellent village shop at Harbertonford and within easy reach are Modbury, Kingsbridge and Totnes, with its main line railway station (London 3 hours), community college and a wide choice of cultural facilities. The South Hams has Dartmoor to the north and the sea to the south and is host to wide range of sporting and recreational pursuits.
