Description
Located some 50 metres west of the village centre, 17 Chapel Street is a charming grade II* listed house which probably dates from the late medieval period, with extensions added in the 1970’s and 1980’s.
The original section of the house formed part of a small hall house, where the first floor and inglenook fireplace in the drawing room were probably added in the 16th century. The existing owners, who have occupied the property since the early 1970’s, uncovered some unusual Tudor brick arches to the back of the fireplace in the sitting / dining room. Linked to the dining area is the kitchen, which consists of a much later lean-to extension and is fitted on three walls.
The entrance hall, cloakroom, double cart lodge with a spacious self-contained bedroom suite over comprises the principal extension, which was commissioned by the vendors in the 1980’s. The three bedrooms to the main part of the house are well-proportioned for a house of its ilk, which are all served by a family bathroom.
To the rear of the house is a utility / boot room which leads onto the main garden, with two brick and tile outbuildings. The principal south-facing garden is a notable feature to the property, which offers complete privacy from neighbouring properties. A large central lawn is defined by established flower and shrub borders, with a brick terrace and pathway leading to a sheltered kitchen garden towards the southern boundary.
To the front is an enclosed courtyard garden which is accessed via the entrance hall and drawing room. In all, the property spans about 0.16 acres.
