Otterton

Nestling in the beautiful Otter Valley within an area of outstanding natural beauty, Otterton is renowned as a traditional and thriving Devon village. The world heritage Jurassic coastline lies within half a mile of the village and the nature reserve at the mouth of the River Otter, famous for its wide variety of bird life, is around a mile away.

The award-winning Otterton Mill restaurant and craft centre is located in the village. Local facilities include a Primary School, Church, Village Hall, Community Shop, Hairdressers, Bakery at the Mill and Public House. There are many lovely walks in the area with Lad ram Bay and the coastal path being less than a mile from ‘Cross Tree Cottage’. Picturesque walks beside the River Otter are within easy reach with a level pathway connecting to the village of Colaton Raleigh and to the pretty seaside town of Budleigh Salterton which has a good range of shops, boutiques, banks, restaurants and doctors surgeries. This part of the East Devon coastline known as the Jurassic Coast is a world heritage site designated for the distinction of its geological formations.

There are opportunities for all types of cycle routes, water sports and fishing along the coast and in the Exe Estuary. The nearby pretty villages of East Budleigh and Yettington offer a great deal of exploration and interest, with superb walking and riding potential at Woodbury Common which provides some 2800 acres of intact pebbled heathland.

There is a regular bus service from the village to Sidmouth, Budleigh Salterton and Exmouth. Budleigh Salterton is approximately 3 miles distant and the city of Exeter lies approximately 12 miles from the village, with access to the M5 and airport being around 2 miles closer. Train links to London from Tiverton Parkway and Exeter St Davids.
