Monkton Combe is known for its school, and also enjoys a parish church, village hall, the Wheelwrights public house, and local interesting architecture including the village 'lock up' which was built around 1776 and is now an ancient monument. There is access to a number of stunning country walks, including along a network of footpaths along the Kennet and Avon canal towards either Bath or Bradford on Avon, along with traffic free cycle ways.

Combe Down village with its variety of local amenities is 1.3 miles away and a regular bus service runs from Monkton Combe to Bath City centre within 2 miles.
