When we were searching for a property to buy towards the end of 2011, we were thrilled to find our beautiful unique home. We had seen so many similar new or new-ish properties and the character of Garth Hunt Cottages stood out a mile. I grew up in Warfield from the early 1980s, and even I didn’t know these gorgeous cottages existed. They are tucked away in a quiet cul de sac. The peacefulness and the safety aspects of this for children and pets was a massive selling point before we had even stepped inside!

The size and layout of the house is charming and practical. The charm is apparent in loads of features such as the high ceilings, the wood burning stove and the brick chimney breast in the kitchen. From a practicality perspective, many 3 bed houses we looked at had a tiny 3rd bedroom, or didn’t have the space we wanted downstairs. Our cottage is generously proportioned, with 3 large double bedrooms and two bathrooms which is what we needed to accommodate us with 2 young children and various dogs and cats! The extra reception room is a huge bonus and over time has been a family room, a music room, a study and a dining room and any combination of the above. We absolutely love having 2 pretty, mature enclosed gardens. The front garden and the patio on the back garden are wonderful sheltered sun traps.

Finally the location is unbeatable. We feel we have the best of both worlds. We are on the edge of gorgeous countryside in Warfield, perfect for walks. We have two lovely old country pubs within walking distance that welcome families and dogs. And we have Larks Hill and Cabbage hill on our doorstep along with two parks which both have play areas for children. We are also walking distance or a very quick drive from the Lexicon and two major supermarkets. Over time I have commuted to London, Newbury, Oxford and Slough for work. And when I’ve worked from home, I’ve had plenty of options for home offices in the 2nd reception room, in one of the bedrooms when the children had grown up, and in the alcove in the main sitting room.

All in all, it is a fabulous home for a couple or a family. We have loved living here and our wish is that someone else loves it as much as we have and that they are as happy here as we have been.

We love coming across houses that are nothing like we've seen before - there's a fairly traditional layout upstairs with three double bedrooms and a lovely family bathroom, and downstairs you've got a lovely big kitchen with a peninsular unit perfect for informal dining. The living room is at the back of the house with French doors into the garden and a charming wood-burning stove. What was once the garage, now serves as an office and snug with French doors opening into the front garden, which the current owners tell is a lovely sun trap (and very private thanks to some clever planting!) Both gardens are mature, sunny & private and you've got plenty of driveway parking to the front as well.

Garth Hill Cottages are on Kennell Lane and within a mile you'll find Bracknell Town Centre & train station to the south, Binfield Village to the west and Warfield to the north. There are literally hundreds of acres of green spaces and parks to explore within that 2 mile radius and plenty of local shops for convenience dotted throughout as well.
